For our first of these videos in 2021, this week I went to the creek At Egypt Mills in Cape County MO. Some horseback riders came by while I was in the creek bed & I even found a fossil to show you!In June 1821, a church was constituted in the Big Bend near the present site of Egypt Mills. A post office was established in 1889, & operated until 1934. Tradition has it that the name originated from a school teacher who organized a Sunday school class which met in an old mill located here. One of the first lessons dealt with Egypt, so the place came to be known as Egypt Mills. It’s right off 177 & easy to find to look at rocks & fossils! Be happy, safe & healthy in nature!
